PM Modi Won’t Be Attending G7 Summit In UK Due To COVID-19 Situation In India

United Kingdom – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United Kingdom for the G7 summit is canceled. Now this decision has been taken owing to the COVID situation in India.
PM Modi has canceled his visit to the G7 summit in the United Kingdom, owing to the Coronavirus situation in India. The Ministry of External Affairs announced that the PM will not attend the summit in person. India is among the four guest countries invited to the summit to be held from June 11th to 13th. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar visited London from May 3rd to 6th to attend the G7 foreign ministers meeting.

Jaishankar said – “The G7 had its agenda of this G7 and there are four of us who are guests, ourselves, Australia, South Korea, and South Africa. The agenda already had COVID very much in it because it is today the biggest challenge with not just India the entire world basis.”
Jaishankar attended the meeting virtually after two members of the Indian delegation falsely tested positive. Prime Minister Modi has been in constant touch with states and the empowered panels reviewing COVID handling in the country. With India trying to overcome the deadly second COVID wave, PM’s decision is only betting on the situation.
