Real Story, Career & Crimes
Gangsters like Pintu Mahto, who was accused of nearly thirty murders and kidnappings, including the murders of three police officers and Congress politician Rajo Singh, made up the Ashok Mahto gang. The Ashok Mahto gang in Warisaliganj and Sheikhpura, both in the Nawada district, was led by Pintu Mahto (Chandan Mahto). Rajo Singh, a sitting Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), was killed in 2005 by Ashok Mahto and his gang. According to Wikipedia, in 2002, Ashok Mahto escaped from the Nawada prison.
During the prison break, Pintu Mahto killed three police officers. The backward castes of the Nawada and Sheikhpura regions supported the gang’s leaders, who are said to be members of the Kurmi caste. It is believed that the Mahto gang engaged in an armed conflict, primarily with the upper-caste Bhumihars.
