Biography, Husband, Daughter

Ansreen Bukhari was born in Pakistan and moved to the UK as a baby. She is now 46 years old. She had ambitions of becoming a flight attendant, but her parents prevented her from going to college. She married Ali Raza, a taxi driver, and had two children: Mahek, 24, and a son, 22.
Ansreen lived a quiet life as a housewife, until her daughter became a social media star on TikTok and Instagram, where she posted beauty and lifestyle content. Mahek had over 128,000 followers on TikTok and was invited to events and parties as an influencer.
Mahek said she was very close to her mother and considered her as a sister and a best friend. She would often take her mother along to the parties and promotions she attended, saying: “She’s like a sister to me, we’re best friends, and I know I could only trust her for anything. That’s the reason I would take her.”
Ansreen said her daughter’s fame on TikTok had completely transformed her life. “When I got married I was like a housewife, but with this TikTok thing I was going out more. It was like two different lives,” she said. “It was more excitement. We were out and meeting people and stuff.”
A Secret Affair with a Young Man

She life took a dark turn when she met Saqib Hussain online about three years before his death. He was then 18, but he lied and told her he was 27. The pair began a sexual relationship, meeting up in hotels in Birmingham and London, and he would frequently send gifts to the house where she lived with her husband, her son and Mahek.
Ansreen Bukhari said she had tried to end the relationship multiple times, but that Hussain would not accept her decision, and threatened to expose their affair to her husband and son with intimate photos and videos. She said she was scared of losing her family and reputation.
Mahek said she had been upset and angry with her mother when she found out about the affair. She had a strong personal dislike of Hussain, claiming that at one point he had posted images online of her face superimposed on a naked body.
Ansreen said she had lied to the police and the court about the extent of her relationship with Hussain, to try to protect her marriage. However, before the retrial, police were able to access Hussain’s iCloud account and discovered photos and videos proving the pair had met multiple times over several years.
A Plot to Kill and Silence
The fatal car chase that resulted in the deaths of Hussain and his friend Ijazuddin, both 21, was the culmination of a plot to silence Hussain and prevent him from revealing the affair.
She and Mahek had lured Hussain to a meeting in a Tesco car park, saying he would be given back £3,000 he claimed to have spent on his lover during their relationship. They planned to take his mobile phone from him, believing it contained explicit images of Ansreen.
However, Hussain and his friend Ijazuddin were then ambushed by a masked gang, recruited by the Bukharis, and chased in their Skoda Fabia along the A46 at speeds of up to 90mph by a Seat Leon and Audi TT – before crashing into a tree in a ball of flames.
The court heard that the Bukharis had hired the gang through a middleman, Mohammed Nadeem, who was also Ansreen’s cousin. The gang members were Mohammed Arshad, Mohammed Irfan, Zainab Majid, and Hamza Ali. They were all paid £500 each for their roles in the attack.
The judge, Timothy Spencer QC, said the case was a story of “love, obsession and extortion” and that the Bukharis had committed “cold-blooded murder”.
A Life Behind Bars
She and Mahek Bukhari were found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. They were sentenced to life imprisonment, with minimum terms of 26 years and nine months for Ansreen and 31 years and eight months for Mahek.
The other six defendants were also convicted of murder and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice. They received sentences ranging from 24 years to 32 years.
Ansreen Bukhari and Mahek Bukhari showed no emotion as they were sentenced. Mahek blew a kiss to her father, who was present in court, as she was taken away to start her jail term.
The judge said TikTok and Instagram, where Mahek Bukhari had amassed tens of thousands of followers, were at the heart of the case. He told Mahek: “Your tawdry fame through your career as an influencer has made you entirely self-obsessed.”
He said her “warped values” had led to her having “no apparent awareness” of the impact her actions had on others.
He told Ansreen: “You are the grown-up in this group and you should have behaved as the grown-up but you allowed your understandable concern about exposure to strip you of any rational judgement.”
He said Ansreen’s head had been turned by the “perceived glamour” of her daughter’s career, with her often appearing in posts online and attending promotions and shisha bar openings. He said it was a world removed from her life as a mother and housewife.

A Tragedy for the Victims’ Families
The families of Hussain and Ijazuddin, both from Banbury, Oxfordshire, said they were devastated by the loss of their loved ones. They described them as kind, caring, and ambitious young men who had bright futures ahead of them.
Hussain’s father, Mohammed Hussain, said he believed his son was effectively “groomed” by Ansreen Bukhari, who took advantage of his vulnerability and naivety. He said he was unaware of the affair until after his son’s death.
He said: “Saqib was a very loving, caring and respectful son. He was always smiling and happy. He had a lot of dreams and aspirations. He wanted to be a pilot or a lawyer. He was studying law at university. He was very intelligent and hardworking.”
He added: “Ansreen Bukhari was a married woman with children. She was old enough to be his mother. She manipulated him and used him for her own selfish needs. She destroyed his life and ours.”
Ijazuddin’s father, Mohammed Ijazuddin, said his son was a loyal and generous friend who had a passion for cars and music. He said he was studying business at college and wanted to start his own car dealership.
He said: “Hashim was a very loving, caring and respectful son. He was always smiling and happy. He had a lot of dreams and aspirations. He wanted to be successful and make us proud. He was very intelligent and hardworking.”
He added: “Hashim was innocent. He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. He did not deserve to die in such a horrific way. He had nothing to do with Ansreen Bukhari or her affair. He was just Saqib’s friend.”
The families said they hoped the sentences would bring them some closure and justice, but that nothing would bring back their sons.
They said: “We are grateful to the police and the prosecution for their hard work and dedication. We are also thankful to the judge and the jury for their verdicts and sentences. We hope that this will send a strong message to anyone who thinks of committing such a heinous crime.”
They added: “We miss our sons every day. They were our pride and joy. They were our everything. They will always be in our hearts and memories. We pray that they are in a better place and that they rest in peace.”
