She grew up in a close-knit family with two sisters, Mary Stevens and Martha Wolfe, who remained her lifelong friends and confidants.

It was there that she met the love of her life, James B. Hollenhead, a young minister who shared her passion for learning and serving God. Lucille and James moved to Richlands, Virginia, where they settled and raised their five children: Cynthia Hess, Mary Cole, Debbie Craft, Rebekah Broomhall, and Jim Hollenhead. Lucille was a devoted and supportive wife, who helped James in his pastoral duties at the Richlands Presbyterian Church. She was also a dedicated and caring mother, who nurtured and encouraged her children in their pursuits and interests.
Lucille Hollenhead was a gifted teacher, who taught at various schools in the area, including Richlands Elementary School and Richlands High School. She loved her students and inspired them to achieve their full potential. She was also a lifelong learner, who continued to pursue her education and earned a master’s degree in counseling from Radford University. She endured the loss of her husband, two granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren, as well as her own health issues, with grace and courage. Celebration of Life and Obituary
A celebration of life service for Lucille Hollenhead will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at the Richlands Presbyterian Church, located at 1315 2nd St, Richlands, VA 24641. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same location. The service will be officiated by Rev. John Craft, Lucille’s son-in-law, and Rev. Matthew Broomhall, Lucille’s grandson. The service will include hymns, prayers, scriptures, and tributes from family and friends.
