The chapter begins with a flashback to 8 years after the God Valley Incident, where Kuma and Ginny are living in the Sorbet Kingdom in South Blue. Kuma is a pastor who uses his Paw-Paw fruit powers to heal the people’s pain and suffering, while Ginny is a leader of the resistance against the tyrannical King Bekori, who oppresses the citizens and demands tribute from them. Kuma and Ginny have a close relationship, but Kuma refuses Ginny’s marriage proposal, saying that he does not want to burden her with his past as a slave of the Celestial Dragons.
Kuma reveals his dream of becoming a hero at sea, like his idol Monkey D. Dragon, the leader of the Revolutionary Army. He says that he wants to help people who are oppressed and discriminated by the World Government like he and Ginny were. Ginny supports his dream but asks him to stay with her in the Sorbet Kingdom.
