Former CBI Director Ranjit Sinha Dies At the Age of 68

Delhi, 16 April 2021 – Former CBI Chief Ranjit Sinha passed away early this morning at his residence in Delhi. Ranjit Sinha was 68 years of age, he tested positive for Covid 19 yesterday. The 1974 batch IPS officer served as a CBI director between 2012 and 2014. Sinha was accused of meeting the accused in Coal scam cases at his residence when he was the director of the agency.

On the Supreme Court’s direction, CBI had registered a case against him to probe his meetings with the Coal Scam accused. Ranjit as the CBI director also courted controversy when he publicly agreed with a topcoat’s remark that CBI is a caged parrot.
