Uttar Pradesh Reports Highest Single Day Spike Of COVID-19 Cases

The second wave of Coronavirus has tightened its grip on India’s most populous state Uttar Pradesh. The state reported its highest single-day spike with 34,379 fresh cases in the past 24 hours, taking its active case tally past two lakh 59,800. Uttar Pradesh also witnessed its highest ever death toll of 195 fatalities.
In the past 24 hours, Lucknow alone reported 5239 cases and 19 deaths, Varanasi reported 2264 cases and 10 fatalities, Gaziabad reported 1023 cases and eight deaths adjoining Noida reported 530 cases and 11 deaths.

After a key meeting, Uttar Pradesh government has ended the chief medical officer’s reference system order for private hospitals in the state. However, government hospitals and medical colleges will continue to treat COVID patients on the CMOS referral only.
