BCCI General Meeting On May 29 To Discuss Upcoming Cricket Season

Mumbai – BCCI has called a special general meeting on the 29th of May to discuss the upcoming cricket season. This was long due and a special general meeting will be happening on May the 29th. It comes in the backdrop of the IPL, the Indian Premier League being canceled midway, and obviously because of the pandemic-like situation.
The cricketing fraternity has taken a beating and as far as India’s context is concerned, obviously, initially, it was decided that the sporting events would continue in a very closed environment in a bio bubble sort of scenario. But now because of the Advent and the increase in the number of cases in COVID-19, the IPL was canceled.
BCCI is now calling for a general meeting on May the 29th to discuss the future course of action whether the Indian team would be traveling abroad for the slated upcoming tournament in several countries or for that matter whether the foreign players or the foreign teams would be coming to India anytime soon.
This is a very big question as far as this cricketing season is concerned. Needless to say last year, too, it was deeply impacted and it was only during December of 2020 and January of 2021 that the cricketing season had started and then came the IPL in April but it had to be unfortunately canceled because of several players testing positive for COVID-19. Hence, the IPL was called off midway.
