Herbert Wigwe was a prominent Nigerian banker and entrepreneur, best known for his role as the CEO of Access Holdings Plc, formerly traded as Access Corporation, until his untimely passing in a helicopter crash near the California-Nevada border in February 2024. Wigwe was widely recognized and celebrated for his achievements and contributions, receiving numerous awards and honors, such as the African Banker of the Year in 2016 and 2020, the BusinessDay Banker of the Year in 2019 and 2020, the Leadership Newspaper CEO of the Year in 2019, the Vanguard Newspaper Personality of the Year in 2020, and the Forbes Africa Person of the Year in 2020.

Meet Chizi Wigwe

Chizi Wigwe is the eldest child of Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe. She was born on June 15, 1998, and is currently 25 years old. She followed in her father’s footsteps and pursued a career in banking and finance. She graduated from the University of Oxford with a degree in Economics and Management in 2019 and joined Access Bank as a management trainee. She rose through the ranks and became the Head of Retail Banking in 2023.

Chizi is married to Emeka Okonkwo, a software engineer and co-founder of the Africa Fintech Foundry. They tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Lagos in December 2022 and welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Adaora, in October 2023. Meet Tochi Wigwe

Tochi Wigwe is the second child and first daughter of Herbert and Chizoba Wigwe. She was born on September 12, 2000, and is currently 23 years old. She inherited her mother’s love for law and justice and pursued a career in human rights and advocacy. She graduated from Harvard Law School with a Juris Doctor degree in 2022 and joined the Human Rights Watch as a legal officer. She specializes in issues related to gender-based violence, child marriage, and female genital mutilation in Africa.

Tochi is engaged to Daniel Okeke, a medical doctor and public health specialist. They met at a human rights conference in New York in 2021 and hit it off instantly. They announced their engagement in January 2024 and planned to get married in April 2024. However, their wedding was postponed due to the tragic death of Tochi’s parents and brother. However, their plans were cut short by the tragic accident that claimed David’s life.
