Plot & Storyline

Bleach Season 17 will follow the plot of the Thousand-Year Blood War arc, which is the final and the most epic arc in the manga. The arc begins with a shocking revelation that the Soul Society is under attack by the Wandenreich, a secret army of the Quincy, led by their king, Yhwach.

The Wandenreich declares war on the Soul Society, claiming that they have been preparing for a thousand years to avenge their genocide by the Shinigami. They launch a surprise assault on the Seireitei, the home of the Soul Reapers, and manage to steal the Bankai, the ultimate forms of their swords, from many of the captains.

Ichigo, who is in the human world, tries to rush to the Soul Society to help his friends, but he is stopped by a mysterious figure, who reveals himself to be a member of the Royal Guard, the elite protectors of the Soul King, the ruler of the Soul Society. The Royal Guard informs Ichigo that he has been summoned by the Soul King, and that he must undergo a special training to unlock his true potential.

Meanwhile, Uryu Ishida, Ichigo’s friend and a Quincy, shocks everyone by joining the Wandenreich, and becoming Yhwach’s successor. Uryu’s motives are unclear, but he seems to have a hidden agenda behind his betrayal.

As the war rages on, both sides suffer heavy casualties and reveal their secrets and powers. The fate of the world hangs in the balance, as Ichigo and his allies face their ultimate enemies and their ultimate challenges.

Quick Recap of Previous Season 16

Bleach Season 16, also known as the Lost Agent arc, was the last season of the anime before it went on hiatus. The season covered chapters 424 to 479 of the manga, and it aired from October 2011 to March 2012, with 24 episodes.

The season focused on Ichigo’s life after he lost his Soul Reaper powers in the battle against Aizen. He tries to live a normal life, but he is soon approached by a mysterious man named Kugo Ginjo, who claims to be a member of the Xcution, a group of Fullbringers, people who can manipulate the souls of objects.

Ginjo offers to help Ichigo regain his powers, by using a special device called the Substitute Badge, which contains the remnants of Ichigo’s Soul Reaper energy. Ichigo agrees, and he starts to train with the Xcution members, who each have their own unique Fullbring abilities.

However, things are not as they seem, as Ginjo reveals his true colors, and betrays Ichigo. He steals Ichigo’s Fullbring and reveals that he was the first Substitute Soul Reaper, who was betrayed by the Soul Society. He plans to use Ichigo’s power to destroy the Soul Society, and he allies himself with Tsukishima, another Fullbringer, who can manipulate memories with his sword.

Ichigo is left powerless and alone, as his friends and family are brainwashed by Tsukishima. However, he is not completely abandoned, as Rukia and the other Soul Reapers arrive to help him. They reveal that they have been working on a way to restore Ichigo’s Soul Reaper powers, by using a special sword called the Reishi Zanpakuto, which contains the energy of all the captains and lieutenants.

Ichigo regains his Soul Reaper powers, and he confronts Ginjo and Tsukishima, along with his friends who have broken free from the memory manipulation. He defeats them both, and learns the truth about the Substitute Badge, which was a surveillance device used by the Soul Society to monitor him.

The season ends with Ichigo accepting his role as a Substitute Soul Reaper, and reconciling with his friends and family. He also meets a mysterious girl named Riruka, who was the only Xcution member who did not betray him, and who has a crush on him.
